Medical Forms

All participants of Scouting activities lasting less than 72 hours must have a complete Scouting Annual Health and Medical Record, Parts A & B (2019 version). This health form is filled out by the participant and/or their parent/guardian and provides important information for our medical staff in the event of an emergency. Medical forms are good for one year from the date on the front of the form.

Please bring a printed copy of your medical form complete, filled out, and signed with you to the event. It is required to check in. We must have a printed copy. Electronic copies will not be accepted.

Make sure to attach a copy of any insurance cards to the forms.

Camping & Sleeping Assignments

There are a few different options for camping at the event:

Tent Camping: Most participants will be camping in the main camping field in personal tents. Sections of the field will be divided and marked for age group and gender to comply with Safeguarding Youth policies.

Hammock Camping: While there are no trees in the camping field, we have a section for hammock camping near the Adirondacks.

Adirondacks: The Adirondacks are primarily reserved for event leadership and those with certain special needs and will be assigned based on registration information.

Vehicles: Participants may sleep in their personal vehicles in the parking lot.

RVs/Trailers: We have plenty of space to accommodate camp trailers in the main parking lot. Please be aware, all RVs/camp trailers must be self-contained as there are no utility hookups available.

NOTE: It is extreme fire danger! Please make sure to check your trailer chains and ensure they do not drag.

Special Accommodations

If you need a special accommodation, please indicate it on your registration. While we have limited options for housing, we will try our best to accommodate you.

Adirondacks can be available for those who cannot use a tent due to their mobility, however, please be aware that the Adirondacks are located further from the dining area and main camp activities than the tent camping field or parking lot.

CPAPs: If you use a CPAP, please bring a battery. Batteries can be charged during the day in the pavilion, if needed.

If you are unable to bring a battery, there is camping with power available near the camp pumphouse, but it is further from the main activity area and you must bring your own extension cord.

Camp Safety

There are a few hazards at Camp Mooney to be aware of so you can best be prepared.

Poison Oak: Poison oak is prevalent at Camp Mooney. Our property crew works hard to help keep it down in the main areas of camp that people use, but it is still there. Stay on the trails and watch where you are walking and what you are grabbing. If you are more susceptible to a reaction from poison oak exposure, consider wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts, wash your hands regularly and use products such as Tecnu.

Ticks: Ticks are often found at Camp Mooney. Wear long sleeves, long pants, and avoid walking in tall grass to avoid them. Do periodic “tick checks” and wear repellant for ticks such as Deet or permethrin.

Wasps/Hornets: The yellow jackets have been bad this summer at Camp Mooney. While our property committee is working diligently to reduce their numbers, expect them to be present, especially around kitchen and main pavilion/bathroom area. If you are allergic to wasp stings, ensure you take extra precautions, bring necessary medications, and inform the camp health officer when you check in.
