Seal the Bond: Your Journey to Brotherhood
Your completion of the Ordeal sets you on the path of an exciting adventure. After 6 months of service to your unit and fulfilling certain requirements, you will be able to seal your membership in the OA by taking part in the Brotherhood ceremony. Brotherhood membership marks the completion of your induction into the Order of the Arrow.
While the Ordeal focused on your commitment to your home unit, Brotherhood membership marks a shift toward serving the lodge and chapter, publicly reaffirming your dedication to the ideals of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service.
Why Become a Brotherhood Member?
After 6 months of service as an Ordeal member, you are eligible to “seal the bonds.” Brotherhood attainment highlights the lessons learned during your Ordeal and provides in-depth insight into how you can lead and grow within Kunamoskt Lodge.
Requirements for Brotherhood
To become a Brotherhood member, you must meet the following criteria:
- Eligibility: Have served at least 6 months as an Ordeal member.
- Dues: You current year’s lodge dues must be paid in full.
- Register: Register for a lodge event that offers a Brotherhood opportunity.
- Fee: Pay the $15 Brotherhood fee. This helps cover the cost of the sash (a $20 value!).
- Attainment Session: Attend the Brotherhood attainment session at the event.
- Ceremony: Attend the Brotherhood Ceremony after successfully meeting the “Challenges of Brotherhood.”
Preparing for Brotherhood
To prepare for your journey to sealing your membership and becoming a Brotherhood member, we strongly recommend you complete the “Brotherhood Journey” in your OA Member Portal. The Brotherhood Journey outlines the Challenges of Brotherhood and breaks it down into manageable steps with interactive resources to meet each one.
